As 2009 comes to a close (pause for a universally collective sigh …) and we prepare to welcome 2010, we unveil the NEW True|Woman Online… True|Woman is still the collaborative efforts of those who are realizing their dreams. It’s still the sharing of stories about the real – authentic – genuine people who surround us. It’s still based from my heart and this kitchen table where I drink my morning coffee and watch the birds at the feeders; thankful I don’t commute anywhere but to the grade school and back… (to drop off and pick up the first grader who reminds me daily what my life is really about.) What True|Woman is not, for the time being, is a printed product you will find on newsstands or in your mailboxes. For the seven issues we published, we were complimented (even praised) for the quality of everything about the publication, from the beautiful cover through the content. It was definitely a first-class product, but not a financially feasible one at this time. That’s OK. If you’ve found us here, and are willing to come back and visit online occasionally, we will still be able to share our stories, and do so affordably. As always, we appreciate our readers beyond words. The first stories for this new online version seem to have taken on a theme of “The Best of Both Worlds”… showing a few of the many facets of women’s lives. Learning about women is like turning the pages of a great book…there’s always more than you see on the cover. Take time to discover… ![]() One request I heard throughout the year and a half we published the printed magazine was, “When are YOU going to be on the cover?” And, although my response was normally, “Never!” - here I am… Why? Because the reality is True|Woman is “me”, and at 45 (and a half) years of age I can admit that… So who am I? A wife, mother, sister, and friend. That’s the important stuff. A writer, a leader, a speaker, a champion for local businesses … that’s the stuff I’ve picked up along the way. Everything I do today still goes back to the little girl born in Milwaukee in 1964; the middle of 5 sisters, raised in a Catholic home and blessed with extended family and roots. I learned to lead by watching my Dad. I’m proud to be his daughter. I suppose I accidentally picked up a few things about taking care of my home and family from my Mom and her wonderful gaggle of female relatives. (Those ladies could/can cook!) My sisters and I are certainly tied forever with heartstrings, as witnessed by the fact I still constantly learn from the one I can no longer physically see… The high school quarterback I married as a child (OK, 18 but a child nonetheless…) still seems to think I’m “all that”, and our four amazing sons remind me every day of the true meaning of my life. The youngest one, shown on this cover photo, was our 20th anniversary gift to our selves, from God. He knows it and it shows. He is blessed with three grown brothers – a handsome carpenter, an athlete with a heart of gold, and an adventurer who thrills him. They are his heroes. As a matter of fact, they’re mine too… Thanks for checking us out online, and for encouraging me to continue to share the stories I love. I am honored to feel the support and value the privilege to do so. Stay tuned for updates. Because, frankly, we are ready to rock n’ roll in 2010 – aren’t you!? A million thanks to Georgia Stewart for all her work on this website – a True|Goddess. To Joan Isenberg for the cover photo, and to Deb Marett for the cover design. |
