Spring is here. The dreary cold winter is done and the energy and aliveness of spring has arrived. You may be feeling like it’s time to clean out the overstuffed closets of your home, your mind, your heart and your life - and grow some new things in your life. So what is it that you want to grow over the next few months? What would bring you joy and nurture your spirit? What projects would feel good to get done? What seeds of greatness are just waiting to be planted in your life? It’s all about the seed. The seed contains everything it needs to become what it is – to reach its full potential. In the plant world, being able to tell what a seed will grow into is a matter of being taught to identify seeds, reading what’s on the seed package or simple cause and effect (stick it in the soil and see what grows). In our lives, the seeds are bursts of energy that show up in the form of creativity, hope, possibility and potential. Sometimes it is easy to dismiss these seeds of greatness – we get tired or overwhelmed or feel as if we should be doing something that seems more productive. Be attentive to the subtle bursts of energy – your seeds of greatness. If you feel like they are few and far between, check your soil. While many seeds can burst forth in just any old soil, some seeds require a specific set of conditions that will allow them to germinate. Are the conditions in your life allowing you to grow? Other factors: Water. Water is conductive. It activates and nurtures. Surround yourself with people which act as water; that inspire and nurture regularly. Sun. The sun brings light, warmth and the insistence of growth. The sun is always where it should be – even when there are clouds or storms. The sun is symbolic of your essence. Think positive thoughts. Be nurturing in your self-talk. Make sure your radiance, your essence is moving out into the world rather than pulling negativity in. Moonlight. Evening moonlight brings regular breaks from the heat and pressure to grow. As evening comes, put aside all pressures and that which makes you uncomfortable. Give yourself permission to rest and just be. Learn to be comfortable with who and where you are. Weeding. Weeds are anything that is noxious and growing where you don’t want it to. This includes negative mind chatter as well as entertaining the unwanted opinions of others. Weed daily. Keep your mind clear. If you catch weeds while they are new, they are much easier to pull. Keep in mind that you don’t have to figure out how to be great or even what seeds to plant. Just watch for those tiny bursts of energy that show up in the form of creativity, hope, possibility and potential. Those are your seeds of greatness. ![]() Pegge with new granddaughter, Addisyn - CONGRATULATIONS! |
